Lifting & Load Handling

Ottobock produce and sell three passive devices for lifting and load handling:
– the BackX, the Paexo Back, and the Paexo SoftBack.

The BackX exoskeleton is a solution for manual load handling while maintaining flexibility. It lessens the burden on the lower back during object lifting while enabling range of motion. This makes it possible to operate a forklift, work in confined areas such as containers, or climb stairs with ease.

The Paexo Back functionality is based on a biomechanical principle that shifts the weight from the lower back to the thighs through the exoskeleton’s support structure. Moreover, the energy storage component absorbs force during bending and releases it during lifting.

Overhead Work & Assembly

The Ottobock Shoulder exoskeleton is designed to provide support to arms during physically demanding overhead tasks. It can be used for workers in a variety of industries such as logistics, manufacturing, or maintenance. Notably, the Ottobock Shoulder is the follow-up to the Paexo Shoulder exoskeleton.

Paexo Neck

The Paexo Neck exoskeleton is a neck support system that eases the burden on the neck area and cervical spine. It offers several customization options for the shoulder and neck regions to ensure a comfortable fit for every user. Consequently, the Paexo Neck exoskeleton is ideal for a wide range of overhead tasks, including ceiling installations and visual inspections.

Paexo Thumb

The Paexo Thumb exoskeleton is designed to support individuals who regularly use their thumbs during work activities. It works by alleviating the pressure on the thumb’s end joints and saddle joints. Wearing the Paexo Thumb exoskeleton results in a distributed force across the entire hand, reducing the strain on the thumb and safeguarding its tip from mechanical impacts.

Paexo Wrist

Paexo Wrist offers effective wrist support during load handling activities. Ottobock Bionic Exoskeletons derived this exoskeleton from a medical device that was created for the treatment of wrist inflammation. The Paexo Wrist utilizes a preventative approach and bridges the wrist, making it ideal for tasks that involve holding riveting tools, welding equipment, or moving and assembling generators or starters.

Paexo Soft Back

Paexo Soft Back provides extensive support to the lower back, promoting an ergonomic posture while lifting lighter loads and standing. It is well-suited for use in logistics environments where tasks such as picking, handling lighter loads, and lifting packages are common.

Paexo Soft Knee

The Paexo Soft Knee exoskeleton is intended for individuals who face frequent knee strain during work activities. It works by alleviating pressure on the knee joint and kneecaps. Wearing the Paexo Soft Knee exoskeleton provides relief to the knee by shielding it from hard surfaces.

Paexo Cool Sleeve

The Paexo Cool Sleeve activates in seconds with cold water and offers cooling support. The special material stores the water for the entire time it is in use and can be reactivated at any time.
